ABOUT US

Hi! I’m Anne Voss, MS, PT.

My passion is helping children! I’ve been working as a pediatric physical therapist since 1999. My 24 years of experience has been in a variety of settings, including acute care and long term rehab in a children’s hospital, outpatient clinics, school-based and early intervention. I have continued training in torticollis and plagiocephaly management, reflex and sensory integration, myofascial release, infant massage, Kinesiotaping and concussion management. Having this well rounded experience gives me a unique perspective on treating infants and children. I’m an expert in motor development both in typically developing children and in those children who have neurological, orthopedic and genetic conditions. I believe every child is on a different path, moving at their own pace, and that each milestone they meet should be celebrated!

Starting my practice, Steady Strides, has always been a dream of mine. I want to use my enthusiasm for working with kids and their families, as well as my pediatric expertise to provide the best treatment strategies to help little ones become independent movers. My goal is for each child to be able to explore their environment, learn and play with their family and peers. It’s never too early to start working on motor skills. There is no “wait and see” for me! Early intervention is key for developing efficient stability and mobility. On the flip side it's also never too late. Age or physical condition doesn’t matter to me. I welcome those kiddos who have treatment challenges or who plateaued in traditional physical therapy settings. I will provide a fresh perspective and approach to developing their motor skills to help them meet their highest functional potential.

Although I am extremely proud of my career as a pediatric physical therapist, my biggest joy and accomplishment is being a mom. I have been blessed with raising three amazing children and becoming a stepmom to my husband‘s three boys. We’ve spent countless hours supporting our kids on ice rinks, ball diamonds, lacrosse fields and ballet studios. Nothing brings me more joy than seeing my active kids do what they love! Together, we also like spending time at the lake, swimming, hiking local parks, and playing pickleball.

Every child is special to me and holds a place in my heart! I would be honored to meet and work with your little one to help them develop their motor skills and become strong, independent movers.

Locations

Lake Elmo

Steady Strides has designed a brand new, beautiful space in the historic Joshua Taylor building in downtown Lake Elmo, MN. We lovingly call this our “Treatment Studio” because unlike traditional PT clinics it feels less medical and more homey. Our space has been thoughtfully renovated to provide a light, bright and fresh treatment space for our little ones to move and play. The calming color scheme and soft textures feel comfortable, not intimidating. The equipment and toys in our studio have been carefully selected to optimize our treatment strategies. These playful tools not only promote and facilitate motor development, but they distract our little ones from how hard they are working. Parents can relax on the couch and participate in our sessions, or walk across the street to grab a cup of coffee from the local coffee shop.

In-Home or Community:

Steady Strides recognizes that children often learn best in their natural environments and that getting out of the house with little ones can often be challenging. Home visits offer convenience when you are trying to work around nap schedules, messy diapers or conference calls. If your child is immunocompromised and home is the safest place, we will bring our therapies to you!* We can come to your home, meet you at the park or schedule a visit at your childcare facility. We want your child’s therapy to fit easily into your lifestyle, so that it can be a priority.

*In-home and community visits are subject to location and travel time. Fuel and travel fees are additional

 FAQ

  • The best way to know if your child would benefit from physical therapy services is to get in touch with us and ask! We will start with a complimentary phone consultation to discuss your child and concerns. As a part of that discussion, we will determine if a physical therapy evaluation or another service is appropriate. The unique thing about working with Steady Strides, is that if you want support, we will provide it. We understand that as parents you know your child best and if you have a concern, it is valid. We encourage you to trust your instincts. We look forward to partnering with you to support your child’s development in a fun and effective way!

  • No, you do not need a referral or a formal diagnosis for your child. Minnesota is a direct-access state for physical therapy, meaning you do not need a referral from a physician to receive treatment from a physical therapist. If you want physical therapy for your child, we provide it! As parents, you have a say in what services your child receives at Steady Strides. Should we establish ongoing care for your child, we would like to collaborate with your child’s provider to share treatment plans, goals and outcomes for comprehensive care. We don’t treat the diagnosis, we treat the child. Although diagnoses can help describe symptoms and predict outcomes, we do not need one to establish services.

  • Click here to get started. This inquiry form will come directly to the therapist who will be in touch shortly for an initial consultation. You can also call or text us at 651-900-5629 and we will respond.

  • It looks like PLAY! Unlike adults, kids are not yet capable of following an exercise program with weights and reps. Instead, little ones need to be encouraged to develop strength, balance and coordination with purposeful play activities. We pull out all the goodies - toys, games, lights and music to motivate kids and make therapy fun! Parents are encouraged to participate in therapy sessions to learn tips and tricks for carryover of these strategies at home. Even with regular therapy, home programming is the key to developing lasting results.

  • Steady Strides is considered out of pocket/private pay with all insurance companies. We can provide you with an invoice upon request for you to submit for reimbursement.

Services meet requirements for most health savings and flex spending accounts but it is your responsibility to confirm. Because we are a very small company, it is difficult to get reimbursement rates from insurance companies that make sense with our business model - quality over quantity. We also don’t want your child’s care dictated by insurance company restrictions. We want your child to be viewed as an individual and their care to be guided by their needs, not numbers.

  • Our “Treatment Studio” is located in Lake Elmo, Minnesota in the Joshua Taylor building in Suite 6. We have ample accessible parking on the south side of the building. Since our studio is in a historical building, there unfortunately are no accessible door switches into the building. There are double doors to enter allowing plenty of room for wheelchairs and strollers, and we’ll gladly help you into the building should you need assistance.

  • Yes, Steady Strides recognizes that home visits are often a better option for families. We can provide evaluations or treatment sessions in your home, at the park or at your child’s daycare facility. There is an additional fee for these services to cover travel expenses and time. In-home and community visits are subject to location and travel time. Please inquire for details.

  • Our initial evaluations are scheduled for 60 - 75 minutes. Follow up treatment sessions are scheduled for 60 minutes with the goal of getting at least 45 minutes out of your little one. We let them guide us. Sometimes they get hungry, tired or frustrated and we need to end our sessions a few minutes early.

  • Steady Strides is available for care between 8 AM and 5 PM Monday through Friday, however, we will do our best to accommodate scheduling requests outside of those hours to meet families’ needs.

  • We ask for 24 hours notice for cancellations, but we understand that things don’t always happen at convenient times. Kids get sick in the middle of the night, flat tires happen in rush hour and the weather in Minnesota can be unpredictable! We will do our best to accommodate your cancellation and reschedule your appointment as soon as possible. If there are repeated cancellations, Steady Strides reserves the right to not offer a refund or reschedule.

  • We accept all forms of payment – cash, check, major credit card or health savings account credit cards. Payment is due in full at the time of service. Packages are pre-purchased and non-refundable.

  • The health and safety of your kids and our staff is our number one priority. Sessions will be canceled if your child presents any of the following: fever, vomiting or diarrhea. Your child must be free of symptoms for a minimum of 24 hours before returning to therapy. No exceptions. We will work to reschedule your child’s session as soon as possible.
